The stage production of A Wrinkle in Time is adapted from Madeleine L'Engle's book bearing the same title. The story chronicles the adventure of the reluctant hero Meg, as she, her brother, and love interest, Calvin, traverse the space-time continuum to save her dad, and subsequently, the universe from the darkness of IT. All in all it is a dark tale that cautions the consequences of communism in a post war society. The stage adaptation, produced by South Coast Repertory, uses projections, lighting, sound, and puppetry to convey this imaginative, sci-fi, children's classic.
The Rep sound system in the Argyros Theatre is a 2 frame LCS system using a Renkus-Heinz proscenium and surround speaker placement. Six speakers were placed onstage for use as practicals and imaging. The run-time for the show is approximately 71 minutes during which 214 sound cues are taken. An additional subwoofer was added to the rep speaker plot in the orchestra pit for added bass coverage, as the show required a substantial amount of bass response.
